Swimming Turtle

We like all animal turtles but, if we are being honest, we don't love all candy turtles. To each their own, but some can be so chocolate-y thick that they’re hard to bite into, and so many don’t even use real chocolate! Or they have a nut-to-caramel ratio that’s “off“ or a caramel that stays stuck in your teeth long after you’re done enjoying it. 

The Swimming Turtle is our attempt at the perfect turtle in Bon form.

The caramel here is the kind where you bite through it and can just barely see your teeth marks before they disappear into an ooze and stretch. We seal in that golden goodness with milk chocolate, then top that with a toasty American heirloom varietal pecan. What's that? It's a pecan the way pecans were when pecans were just pecans. Native to the United States, the big baddies commercial pecans we’re now used to came from kinda tiny, not as pretty ones that were (and still are!) packed with flavor. It’s as if you shrunk what you’re used to both in size and flavor, on top of a Bon. 

Oh! And salt. Maldon sea salt, just a bit, a tiny bit, right on top. Because salt. If you were feeling corny you could call it a sea turtle!
