Thankful for you!

Thankful for you!

Dear Bon Bon Bon Family,

People always mention getting a little freaked out that we're closing when I write these notes so I am just going to (spoiler alert) state right up front that this is just a giant thank you from Alex, our founder. And we are not closing!

It's kind of funny because I started a chocolate shop because I like chocolate (admittedly an understatement to get my point across concisely). But then you start this thing and the doors open and it's not perfect, but there's chocolate and you guys are there. The original shop on Evaline looked nothing like the chocolate shop of my dreams but, if you closed your eyes and just soaked it in a minute, it sure felt like it.

There's this Lynn Hall quote from Where Have All The Tigers Gone that goes “We did not change as we grew older; we just became more clearly ourselves.” I think that feels right for this magical little corner of the world over time, too. It was all "there" on day 1, but it didn't look quite right or sound quite right yet. It still doesn't! Maybe one day I will walk into a Bon Bon Bon and think "Ah, there it is!" But the reality is more like a group of people chipping away different bits of marble all trying to get at the essence of something. And yeah, we make mistakes. But yeah, it's in there somewhere.

I should note that the people chipping away don't all work here, either! Often it's you - letting us know about something clunky or odd that we didn't know we needed to fix yet! Sometimes it's a friendly 45 minute long conversation about a party where we both are trying to get the perfect order together but in the meantime all we've identified is that our day is brighter and we probably need a follow up. I mean, ultimately you all pay the bills around here! If that's not something to be thankful for, if the opportunity to make handmade, cute, colorful, delicious and accurate chocolates with the best ingredients we can find next to some of the most amazing and complex, wildly wonderful and uniquely skilled good humans around, isn't something to be thankful for, then tell me what is!

Thank you not just for making this possible but for making Bon Bon Bon as Bon as it could possibly be - from the moment you first walked in to the last time you sent us a screenshot. We appreciate it and you.

Thank you,

Alex
